The story of Sanford, the ‘broken’ dog, is a touching tale of resilience, hope, and love. When he arrived at a shelter in Texas, he had been run over and had a bullet wound in his hind leg. He was in a sorry state and didn’t show any interest in anyone or anything. He was considered a ‘damaged dog’ and was resigned to his fate.

Thankfully, a volunteer from Dallas DogRRR saw Sanford and knew she had to help him. He was physically broken and emotionally drained, but she saw a glimmer of hope in his eyes. He is looking for a forever home where he can spend the rest of his life with a loving family.

After receiving the necessary medical treatment, Sanford was taken to foster mom Karen’s home. It was here that he realized he was finally safe, and his smile returned. His smile is a reminder that every animal deserves a chance to be loved and cared for, no matter their past.

Karen, a seasoned foster mom, said, “I am currently on my 52nd foster, and I can really say that I’ve never had anyone as jovial as him. He looks at me in a way that no other animal or human has ever looked at me, including my pets. Essentially, he is not smiling only when he is asleep or eating.”
#
Sanford, or ‘Sanfee’ as Karen affectionately calls him, is now living the good life. He eats home-cooked food, goes for daily walks, and plays with his new canine buddies. Despite being 10 years old, he is playful and full of energy.

Kerry Anechiarico, executive director of Dallas DogRRR, said, “He’ll be a great family dog. He’ll get along with other dogs and everyone. He even does well with kids.” If you’re interested in adopting this lovely pooch, get in touch with Dallas DogRRR.
