Meet Veronica Duque, a passionate third-grade teacher who has been teaching for 15 years. She understands how challenging it is for young kids to grasp complex concepts like anatomy, which is why she decided to get creative with her teaching methods. To help her students understand the human body, Veronica wore a full-body suit that delineated different organs.
Veronica’s innovative approach to teaching did not go unnoticed. After one of her students posted pictures of her in the suit on social media, the images quickly went viral. Her tweet received over 70,000 likes and 14,000 comments, making her an overnight sensation. Her approach to teaching symbolized creativity and dedication, showing that she was not afraid to go the extra mile for her students.

Veronica is not new to using disguises in her teaching. In her history classes, she uses cardboard crowns to teach her students about grammar categories like nouns and adjectives. “There are many grammar kingdoms,” she says. Her commitment to making learning fun and engaging has won her the admiration of many people on social media.
Veronica’s outfit covering her entire body has drawn similarities to Slim Goodbody, a well-known character developed by John Burstein to promote children’s well-being. Slim Goodbody’s productions have been viewed by millions of children on Discovery Education, and his live shows have traveled to theaters throughout the United States, reaching thousands of children each year. In addition, Burstein has authored 50 children’s books and has been honored with awards from organizations such as the Parent’s Choice and the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. He has also been recognized by the President’s Council on Physical Fitness and Sports as well as the World Health Organization for his contributions.

As she puts it, “I would love to see society stop considering teachers as lazy bureaucratic public servants.
