90-Year-Old Bonnie Engle Continues to Give Back with Handmade Quilts for Needy Families

For most people, reaching the age of 90 means it’s time to take it easy and enjoy the fruits of their labor. But for Bonnie Engle, a resident of Desert Sage Manor in Hermiston, Oregon, turning 90 has not slowed her down one bit. For the past 20 years, Bonnie has been working tirelessly to make handmade quilts for the Hermiston Police Department’s annual Christmas Express program, which provides food and resources for families in need during the holidays.

Bonnie’s dedication to giving back to her community has not gone unnoticed. This year alone, she has made over 100 quilts to be given to those in need, bringing her total number of quilts made for the program to over 2,000. The Hermiston Police Department recognized Bonnie’s efforts by presenting her with a plaque honoring her contribution to the community.

Despite her advanced age, Bonnie shows no signs of slowing down. She is as determined as ever to continue making quilts and giving back to those in need. When asked about her work, Bonnie said, “It feels good to do something for them. Thank you to the community for the donations of the fabric, that’s really something that’s very important.”

Bonnie’s selfless act of kindness is an inspiration to us all. She is a shining example of the power of one person to make a difference in the lives of others. We can all learn from Bonnie’s dedication and commitment to helping those in need. So let’s all take a page from Bonnie’s book and look for ways we can give back to our communities and make a positive impact on the world around us.

If you would like to show your support for Bonnie and her efforts to bring joy to those in need, consider donating fabric or other supplies to help her continue her work. Or, if you are feeling particularly ambitious, try your hand at making a quilt of your own to donate to a worthy cause. There is no better time than now to follow in Bonnie’s footsteps and make a difference in the world.
