Dinosaurs have been fascinating humans for centuries, with their massive size and diverse range of abilities. From walking on the ground to flying through the air, these ancient creatures were truly impressive. One species in particular, the Nodosaur, has recently garnered attention due to the discovery of a well-preserved fossil in Alberta, Canada.

The Nodosaur was a herbivorous dinosaur that lived during the early Cretaceous period, around 110-100 million years ago. It was a type of armored dinosaur, characterized by its bony plates and spines that were used for protection against predators.

The Nodosaur was a medium-sized dinosaur, measuring around 15-20 feet in length and weighing up to 2.5 tons. What makes the Nodosaur truly unique, however, is the fact that its fossil was discovered with well-preserved skin.

This is an incredibly rare find, as skin is usually one of the first tissues to decay after an animal’s death. The Nodosaur’s skin was covered in small, armor-like scales, which would have provided additional protection against predators.

The Nodosaur’s fossil was discovered in 2011 by heavy-equipment operator Shawn Funk and his supervisor Mike Gratton. It took museum workers over 6 years and 7,000 hours to remove the debris and piece together the fossil. When it was finally hoisted out of the pit, the rock shattered and the Nodosaur broke into several chunks. The fragments were then transported to the Royal Tyrell Museum in Fort McMurray, Alberta, where they were reassembled and put on display.
