Steve Irwin’s wife, Terri, took over the iconic Australia Zoo after his passing, and their daughter, Bindi, recently announced on her Instagram that the zoo’s wildlife hospital had treated its 90,000th patient. The hospital has been busier than ever due to the bushfires and the zoo’s mission to save Australia’s jeopardized wildlife.

The bushfires that ravaged Australia left behind a trail of destruction, scorching a massive 6,300,000 hectares of land and causing an estimated loss of half a billion animals. These creatures were either lost or are now at risk of starvation due to the destruction of their habitat and food sources.

Shockingly, up to 30% of koalas were among the casualties in the New South Wales mid-north coast fires, as reported by the country’s environment minister. The extent of damage caused by these fires is truly staggering and highlights the urgent need to take action to protect our planet and its inhabitants.
